Netflix’s Top Horror Films In 2023

Horror is one of the most popular types of movies, and many are on OTT platforms. There are many different sub-genres throughout the horror genre, and Netflix has a large collection of them. Netflix has among the most up-to-date horror shows and movie collections.

There are many highly-rated movies on the platform, such as “The Babysitter,” “His House,” the “Fear Street” trilogy, and many others, that have become very popular with viewers. Also, Netflix has a wide range of Stephen King changes, foreign horror films, and paranormal stories that will get your heart racing. If you are interested in seeing many scary horror movies in a row, Netflix is the best place to go.

Eli

This scary horror movie is hypnotizing, and the main character is a young boy with a rare autoimmune disease. A mysterious doctor is treating the boy’s illness, and the calmness of the doctor is contrasted with scary images in this movie to give people who like scary movies a thrill. This scary mystery movie takes place in the dark and has many scary paranormal events.

Scream

The film is the fourth in the Scream series. It takes place ten years after the first mass murder by the Ghostface Killer. To bring the tale of Woodsboro to a close, the original cast of the first three movies plays their roles again. Even though the plot is the same as in the first three movies, this one is a scary addition to the series and a good way to end it.

Little Evil

Eli Craig, who also wrote the movie, is in charge of directing this silly horror comedy. In the story, a man starts a perfect life with the woman he dreams of but discovers his son could be the antichrist. Several big names in comedy have small roles in the playfully clever script. This movie takes on scary clichés in a funny way, focusing more on comedy than horror.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

This is the ninth movie in the series. It takes place 50 years after Leatherface’s killing spree in 1973 when a group of young businesspeople goes to Texas to sell off old properties and turn the area into a cool place.

When they check out what they think is a dismissed orphanage, they discover that an old woman named Ginny and a well-known serial killer live there. This starts a bloody and scary game of cat and mouse between Ginny and the serial killer. The film is exactly what you’d expect from a slasher movie, with plenty of blood and scary moments.

Umma

Sarah Oh is pretty good at any role and the movie Umma shows that. In Umma, she plays Amanda, a Korean immigrant who homeschools her daughter Chrissy on a farm away from technology. Amanda has to deal with the stress of Chrissy wanting to leave for college, flashbacks to her abusive childhood following being given her mother’s ashes, and an evil spirit who wants to take over her body. The best parts of this movie are the supernatural scares and the subject matter of generational trauma and finding yourself.

Choose Or Die

In the story, Kayla finds an old computer game from the 1980s with a cash prize of $100,000 for the first person to beat it. She wants to try the game because her family needs money and is interested. This game is beyond just a simple horror-themed choose-your-own-adventure. The game can change how things are and make Kayla make dangerous decisions that hurt other people.

Kayla and her friend Isaac try to stop the game even though they are trapped and have to play. But because evil people made this game, it’s not as easy as you think to play and stay alive. This movie is old and new, with an interesting story. This movie jumps right into the scary parts without a lot of filler.

Ouija: Origin Of Evil

This is a prequel to one of the scariest movies of the decade, which is about a bad Ouija board. The movie is set in the 1970s, when fake psychic Alice Zander and her two daughters, Doris and Lina, hold seances for paying customers because Alice’s husband is dying.

Doris is a younger one who steps it up by bringing out an Ouija board. But it’s cursed, so it causes them to do things that are too real, transmits a dark spirit into the girl’s body, and shows how evil the Zander house is. It’s scary and gets the job done.

The Babysitter

Even though it’s a common trope for a little kid to have a crush on their hot teenage babysitter, this story flips that idea because the hot babysitter is also a Satanic cult member. The cult, which has a ceremony at Cole’s house, will do anything to stop Cole from telling people about their secret. This movie is funny and gross, and it does a good job of paying tribute to 80s horror.

Vampires Vs. The Bronx

This is a modern horror film with a simple but smart twist. In the story, a group of kids living in a Bronx neighborhood finds out that the real estate firm buying up local companies is run by a group of vampires who drink blood. The movie hits a home run since gentrification drains a neighbourhood’s resources.

Creep

Almost all of the film is made up of found footage. Patrick Bice acts as the director, co-writer, and videographer. He goes to a far-removed cabin hired by Josef, a strange man who says he has a brain tumour and wants to make a video diary for his unborn baby before he dies.

Mark Duplass gives among the best performances because he always plays the creepy but likeable guy. Creep 2, which came out in 2017, is just as good. Bice also directed this movie, and both of them are great edge-of-your-seat thrillers that make the most of the “found footage” format.

Unfriended

This movie is a natural progression of the found-footage style in the digital age. It is a haunted Skype horror movie, along with one of the Screenlife movies that made it to the mainstream. Most of us spend most of our time in front of screens, and this way of telling a story gives filmmakers a glimpse of all the little secrets we keep in our deleted texts and secret files.

After a classmate dies because of online harassment, a group of teens finds that a bad spirit is after each of them as they hang out online. The film works better than you might think and is great for a time when everyone likes to hang out online.
